Langtang North Chairman commends Lalong on new Jos flyover

Story from Yakubu VENTIM, Jos

The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council Hon. Joshua Ubandoma Laven has commended Governor Simon Bako Lalong’s visionary leadership, for constructing a flyover bridge at British American Junction which links to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), to decongest traffic in the area.

Speaking during his parley with journalists in Jos, Laven applauded the positive contributions of journalists in shaping politics in Nigeria.

He said ” I can’t imagine seeing journalists going through harsh economic situation during the present regime, when most of them work without enjoying any dividends of democracy.

Joshua Ubandoma disclosed that the role of the media in promoting the tenets of democracy can’t be overemphasized. “We see that they have added beauty to his popularity as council chairman in Nigeria and across the globe due to their objective reportage.

He said he got drawn closer to journalists in Plateau State, and built cordial working relationship which he has enjoyed over the years through their objective and balanced reports.

Hon. Ubandoma however, decried the introduction of cabals into Nigerian politics and government, and appealed to government at all level to shun partiality and carry everyone along.

According to him, the autonomy granted to local governments councils in Nigeria, is just a paper work under the APC regime, and without the intervention of the media, the whole exercise will turn into mirage.

Joshua Laven revealed that the insecurity in Plateau State needs the government to take proactive measures, and bring an end to bloodshed.

“I have first hand information of purported plan ahead which today many councils have become victims, we keep discussing it during security meetings, yet nothing was done about it.

He called on citizens to support Lalong’s administration as he is gradually introducing people oriented projects that can touch the lives of the people of the state.

Laven urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to allow freedom of information, since we are in a democracy, and not to allow the country’s democracy collapse.
