Zamfara Assembly impeaches Deputy Governor over gross misconduct

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has announced the impeachment of the state’s Deputy Governor, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau.
The impeachment followed a resolution reached at a plenary session on the deliberation of the reports of the seven-man panel submitted to the speaker.
The Speaker told the members that the seven-man investigative panel had indicated the Deputy Governor of gross misconduct.

The allegations signed by 18 members indicates a report of gross misconduct against the Deputy Governor.
After the presentation of the reports, the members of the House went into an election where all the 20 members present voted in affirmative.
The members finally passed a resolution for the removal of the Deputy Governor from office for an offence of gross misconduct.
The Speaker directed for the submission of the resolution to the Secretary to the State Government for further necessary action.
Leadership, however, gathered that the name of the new Deputy Governor would be submitted to the House of Assembly for screening.
