73-year-old man kills younger brother over land in Imo

73-year-old Ohalete Njoku, has reportedly ended the life of his younger brother Austin Njoku in a dispute over land in Umumbasi, Amaraku, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to report, Njoku who is currently cooling off his head at a police station in the area was said to have been strapped with palm fronds, as the youths forced him to carry his deceased brother on his laps as they conveyed him in a wheelbarrow out of the community.

When interrogated, the suspect claimed he killed his brother, a truck pusher, while asleep for allegedly taking over the only piece of land belonging to the family.

He said he was angered by his younger brother’s action, which he submitted should have been his own by being the first son of the family.

A youth leader in the area, Bethran Uwandu, said they decided to take the suspect to the police to avoid taking laws into their hands.

Michael Abattam, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) was yet to respond to an inquiry made over the incident according to the medium as at press time.
