Bandits kill 50, burn church, houses in Giwa LG

About 50 people were killed and unspecified number kidnapped when bandits attacked 9 communities in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, ASP Mohammed Jalinge, the Public Relations Officer of Kaduna State Police Command said they are still compiling the actual damages caused and number of people killed, which might be above 50.

“We are still waiting for the full details of the incident from DPO Giwa and Area Commander Zaria.

According to reports, a member of vigilante group in Dillalai area, Mansur Ibrahim,  said the bandits also burnt houses and vehicles, motor cycles and rustled away over 100 cows.

The villages affected were Dillalai, Zango, Tama, Kaya, Bare-bare, Anguwan Bako, Gidan Alhajin Kida, Kadanya and Durumi among others, Dillalai was worst hit as 15 people were killed aside the houses and trucks that were burnt to ashes.

Similarly, the bandits burnt down a church at Zangon Tama village, all in Giwa Local Government Area.

Ibrahim further revealed that some of the victims who sustained gun shots wounds are receiving treatment at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika.
