Fresh attack in Irigwe chiefdom of Plateau leaves 5 dead, 3 injured

At least five persons have been confirmed dead and others severally injured following the resurgence of attack in Irigwe chiefdom, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state.

Reports said the incident was perpetrated by unidentified persons at about 7:57pm on 28th March, 2022. The victims were ambushed and killed by unknown assailants at different village locations of Irigwe chiefdom.

A press statement made available to Neptune Prime by the National Publicity Secretary of Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Davidson Malison in Jos on Tuesday said “three women were killed at Mararaban Tipper along Nzhwerenvi village, one man was also killed at Kpara village, one was ambushed along Gero Road from Tin Mining Site, who was rushed to the hospital and later gave up the ghost”.

The Publicity Secretary further disclosed that, “three people sustained gunshots wounds and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital. A bus vehicle was burnt down and motorcycles were carted away.

“The statement identified some of the victims as; Talatu (Isho) Benson- 45 year-old, Talatu Danladi- 33 year, Mama Danladi – 15 year old, James Yah – 42 year old as well as Adamu Amedi. While the injured persons are; Godiya Danladi, Redzie Eve and Alheri Danladi”.

It could be recalled that recently, the Irigwe Development Association (IDA) during a press conference barely one week ago have raised alarm over the attacks and destruction of over 400 farmlands by herders worth over N500m.
