Gov. Ishaku appoints executives for Taraba State University

Story from Ahmed USMAN, Jalingo

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State has appointed a new management for Taraba State University, Jalingo.

The appointment was announced by the Council of the university led by Ambassador Idris Waziri at the end of a meeting held in Jalingo.

Professor Sunday Paul Bako is the new Vice Chancellor of the university, a professor of plant biology and biotechnology from Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria replaces Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe.

Until his appointment, Professor Paul Bako is the Vice Chancellor of Kwararrafa University Wukari, Taraba State.

Others appointed are Mr. Joseph Bibinu as Registrar, Mr. Abraham Bagu as Bursar and Mr. Israel Idris as the Librarian.

Their appointment came shortly after Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) kicked against the decision of the State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, to appoint only Christians as principal officers of the University.

The Islamic rights group also questioned the governor’s alleged lopsided appointments of permanent secretaries which, according to them, favoured Christians only.

MURIC, in a statement by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola challenged the governor to explain his decision to such actions.

The group explained that the Taraba Muslim Council had recently disclosed that Muslims who applied for the positions scored highest marks in the interview.
