I will run for president in 2023 if PMB supports me – Gov. El-Rufai

Speaking in Kaduna, the governor who is among those working hard to sack Mai Mala Buni as National Caretaker Chairman of APC, added that initially, he has rested his ambition for any elected political office in 2023, but he noticed that Nigeria is in dire need of a courageous and competent person to change the shape of things for the better.

In 2015, according to him, his ambition was to work with the president if Buhari wins the presidency then, but because he was one of those who put pressure on the president to change his mind and run for the presidency in 2015, Buhari also insisted that El-Rufai should contest for Kaduna Governorship so that he will assist him to bring unity into the north, Kaduna being the capital of the northern region.

Similarly, he was on record as saying severally that the presidency should be zoned to the south in 2023. If we are to compensate our southern brothers for standing with us in 2015, and I did not change that stand, but if it arises that the president sees me as fit for the presidency, I will definitely contest. Nigeria is facing serious problems left and right, we need to put our hands on deck and salvage the country from banditry and insurgency.

Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, one of the northern governors that has made a remarkable achievement in Kaduna State, even though some of his policies seems to be painful, is one politician that the country especially people of his like minds need to ensure that they move forward and occupy offices at the federal level in 2023.
