Kano gov’t pledges full autonomy for judiciary

Story from Shafaatu DAUDA, Kano

The Kano State Government has pledged to ensure full autonomy for judiciary. Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje stated this while receiving executives of the Kano branch of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) who visited him as part of activities marking this year’s NBA week.

Governor Ganduje, represented by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said the government is waiting for the state House of Assembly to endorse the bill that will make the judiciary autonomous.

Earlier, the Chairman of Kano branch of NBA Aminu Sani Gadanya, urged the state government to give assent to the law that will make the judiciary autonomous as contained in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
