Nigeria–Ghana Match: Zambian CAF official dies after suffering stampede

It was pandemonium on Wednesday after the Ghana Vs Nigeria qualifying match that ended up 1-1 as irate fans of the Nigerian side went berserk leading to a stampede during which many people sustained injuries.
A Zambian official of Confederation of African Football (CAF) who also suffered the stampede reportedly died afterward.
Dr Joseph Kabungo was CAF’s Doping Officer for the second leg of the World Cup play-off between the West African rivals.

The Black Stars of Ghana drew 1-1 with the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja, to qualify for the tournament in Qatar.
The Confederation of African Football’s Doping Officer for the game between Ghana and Nigeria, Dr Joseph Kabungo died after violence erupted at the end of the match in Abuja.
Kabungo is a Zambian medical practitioner who was reported to have lost consciousness, after he was beaten and stepped on as fans try to make their way out of the stadium.
In a post on Twitter by British-Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, his death was confirmed after he was rushed to the hospital.
