Woman in police custody for maltreating stepson in Kogi (Video)

The Kogi State Police Command has arrested a woman for maltreating her stepson.
Neptune Prime learnt that the arrested woman has been charged to court for child abuse by the Kogi State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Fatima Kabir Buba.

The Commissioner swung into action after she was informed by the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, about the alleged inhumane act.
After a thorough interrogation by the Commissioner and her team, the woman, Elizabeth Abu who is married to Ewongolu Emmanuel confessed to the crime, saying she did not intend to inflict pain on the boy.
Hajiya Buba while reacting to the development expressed sadness over the incident.
According to the Commissioner, the boy is currently receiving treatment at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Fatima Buba, in collaboration with the Police Commissioner, urged the Ministry’s legal team to ensure that the law of the land takes its course.
Secretary to the state government, Dr Mrs Folashade Ayoade Arike was on the ground to make sure the police did the needful, adding that she will be charged to court.
She said the present administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello has zero-tolerance for child abuse, stressing that guardians and parents must take great care in raising their children to become responsible citizens.
The victim, Master David Mathew Ewongolu in an interview said he sustained injuries on his buttock from a whipping he got from his stepmom for using part of his clothing to make a duster, saying it looks like it was burnt with a hot electric iron.
