IPOB/ESN members attack military checkpoint in Abia, set patrol van ablaze

Suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) on Friday attacked one military checkpoint in Aba, Abia State commercial capital, according to reports.

They also set a patrol van at the checkpoint ablaze.

The incident happened at the Tonimas junction axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

The gunmen had laid ambush for the soldiers, who were on patrol, according to The PUNCH quoting a military source, adding that no soldier was killed during the attack, adding that efforts have been intensified to arrest the perpetrators.

The attack caused panic among residents in the area.
