The family members of Mr Onwegbuzie, an Inspector of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), are yet to believe the report given by the service on the death of their relative.

Mr Onwegbuzie was said to have been killed on March 2, 2022 by suspected smugglers in the company of six operatives in Ogun State and his body was dumped in a deep pit, according to the Controller of the Unit.

But picture of late Onwegbuzie when presented to the family proved otherwise.

According to The Vanguard quoting a family source, Onwegbuzie’s body looked like one that was strangled to death.

“Seven officers went for operations and one went missing, the other six ran away and they never called for any kind of reinforcement, never declared him missing after 24 hours,” the family source said.

“Instead, the unit leader went on to call a soothsayer to tell them where they can find him or his corpse. And everyone knows that the Service, in their usual way, will attack the community in Commando style in order to rescue him.

“You need to see the picture of the deceased; it was like he was strangled.”

Although, the NCS vowed that the long arm of the law would catch up with those behind the murder.

Efforts to speak with the Public Relations Officer of the Unit, Peter Duniya, proved abortive as he neither picked up his call when contacted, the medium stated.
