The 2023 general election in which the presidential election is the mother of all elections as far Nigeria’s democracy is concerned is currently gathering momentum and political parties are marshaling out plans to organise hitch-free primaries that will produce the candidates of their choice to represent the party.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there are 18 registered political parties in the country and about eight currently have presidential aspirants who will be subjected to either primaries – where party delegates elect aspirants they feel will represent their interests or by consensus – a process where concerned aspirants unanimously agree to allow a contestant represents the party for the election.
