In its continued efforts to ensure security and public safety in the state, Yobe State Police Command has begun a massive clamp down on some criminal hideouts of hoodlums who specialise in kidnapping and related vices in Fika, Potiskum, Gujba, and Gulani local government areas of the state.

The operation led to the arrest of five members of a kidnap gang as four others are still at large, even as efforts are ongoing to apprehend and bring them to justice soon, said a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Yobe Police Command, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim.

This development came after the police rescued one Idi Isa aged, 56 years of Karem Village in Fika, who was kidnapped on 31st March, 2022.

“It is pertinent to note that, one of the suspects, i.e. Adamu Ibrahim, while undergoing trial at the High Court, Potiskum on a similar offence but granted court bail got involved in the aforementioned acts of criminalities.

“In this regard, the Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna G Garba, while reiterating the commitment of the command to ensuring security and public safety, urges Yobeans to give their support and assist the Police by providing timely and credible information in the fight against crime”.
