Police deploy 4,000 personnel to ensure peaceful Sallah celebrations in Taraba

The Taraba State Police Command has said it has redeployed about 4,000 operatives to ensure the forthcoming Sallah celebration is hitch-free.

Updating journalists on Friday on the security situation of the state, the police Commissioner, Abimbola S. Sokoya, said the deployment followed recent terrorists’ threats of targeting soft spots in some parts of the country.

“We are already deploying our men, and we are going to deploy over 4000 police officers and men.” He said.

Promising residents a peaceful Sallah celebration, Sokoya urged the people not to hesitate to draw the attention of security personnel to any form of suspicious movements in their areas.

He solicited the cooperation and synergy of the people of the state so as to put an end to all criminal activities.

“We are here to give residents of the state the assurance that we are going to rejig the security architecture, they should all be confident in us.”

Recall that Taraba State governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, had issued directives to the security operatives on the need for them to ensure periodic visits to hotels, brothels, beer parlours, recreational centres, motor parks, and markets among others to rid the state of criminality.

The Commissioner who admitted that the directives are being carried out by the command said the crime wave in the state has been reduced to the barest minimum.
