Foundation trains 55 Bauchi girls, boys on various skills

In its efforts to alleviate drugs abuse and other social vices among children, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) known as ‘Child Is Gold Foundation’ with support from Meda Canada has graduated 55 girls and boys in Bauchi state who were trained in various vocational and life skills.
The graduation ceremony which held at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, has in attendance, the leaders of the two NGOs.

Speaking during the ceremony, the executive director of Child Is Gold Foundation, Mrs Elizabeth James, said their main goal is to instill passion inside the participants for the acquisition of skills and self-employment.
She said the program is purposely for young girls and boys, adding that it was designed to help them learn how to take care of themselves through skills acquisitions.
“We taught them skills so as to make them stand on their feet not to be a liability. We also enlightened them on the dangers of taking hard drugs.
“We therefore call on the parents to help us by supervising the children after the training so they will ensure that they make good use of the skills they learnt and rely on themselves”. She said.
