IGP Usman Baba patrols Abuja-Kaduna highway (photos)

In a bid to ensure safety and protection of travellers and motorists along the ever-busy Abuja-Kaduna highway, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, took out time with some senior officers to patrol the road on Saturday.

This is coming two days after armed bandits reportedly shot sporadically while crossing the road.

In a tweet by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Acting Force Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Force Headquarters, Abuja, the patrol is aimed at ascertaining adequate deployment of men and assets to protect lives and property along the highway.

He tweeted: “Banditry: IGP Patrols Abuja-Kaduna Road, Deploys Heavily Armed Tactical Squads.

IGP Usman Alkali Baba is presently on patrol along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway with some senior officers and men with a view to ascertaining adequate deployment of men and assets to protect lives and property along the route and within kaduna axis. The exercise is ongoing as the assessment and strategic deployment continue. Thanks.”

The Abuja-Kaduna axis has become a hot spot for the bandits off late, their latest act was the bombing of the Kaduna-bound train AK9 from Abuja on moo, March 28, 2022 which resulted to the death of eight passengers and 21 persons.

The country’s top military bras having visited the scene of the attack and met with the President and Commander in Chief of Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari reiterated that the military is still on course in dealing ruthlessly with the terrorist.
