Insecurity: Ambassador Yerima Abdullahi tasks Nigerians on patriotism

A former minister of education and elder statesman in Gombe state, Ambassador Ibrahim Yerima Abdullahi, has charged Nigerians on national patriotism.

He opined that the myriad of problems particularly the worsening insecurity and economic challenges bedevilling the nation can be surmounted when all compatriots play their roles patriotically.

The former minister and ambassador who also holds the traditional title of ‘Sarkin Bai’ of Gombe gave the charge while addressing journalists on the state of the nation over the weekend at his residence in Gombe state.

He said the country cannot overcome the present challenges if the leaders do not act decisively, adding that the common citizens should also be patriotic by praying for the nation and abiding by the laws of the land.

Yerima Abdullahi who said he was at the moment disturbed by the insecurity and economic hardship in the land, tasked leaders with justice to all and sundry.

“We have to draw the attention of the government to the inequities and lack of justice that is being practised in society.

“If the legal system cannot give citizens rest of mind, then we have a problem. We should pray God to restore peace and tranquillity in our country, to improve our economic progress,” he advised.

The elder statesman also admonished the youth to avoid being used to destroy the country pointing out that the future of the nation is in their hands.
