Kaduna Train Attack: Kaduna gov’t gives N2 million each to families of late victims

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

According to the executive secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), Muhammed Mukaddas, the Kaduna State Government has given the sum of 2 million naira each to the recent victims of the train bomb attack.

Disclosing this on Wednesday in Kaduna, the executive secretary said Governor El-Rufai gave the approval on Tuesday, noting that the governor equally approved the disbursement of N250,000 each to 22 persons severely wounded during the train attack.

The KADSEMA executive secretary added that the donation was not to compensate the victims, but to support them.

“369 victims were called and offered opportunities for psychological support, 264 persons accepted the offers and were supported,” he added.

During a condolence visit, Ekiti governor and chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, Dr. Fayemi Kayode had on behalf of the group announced a N50 million donation to the victims through the state government.

Bandits on March 28 attacked an Abuja-Kaduna train at Katari, Kaduna State, killing no fewer than eight passengers with several other sustaining injuries while a yet to be ascertained number of others were abducted.

The attack came on the heels of the attack on the Kaduna airport, which has led to the closure of the facility.

At the time of filing this report, Neptune Prime can reveal that APC Presidential aspirant, Senator Bola Tinubu also donated the sum of N50 million naira through Kaduna State Government when he visited Kaduna, northern governors donated N50 million naira. But the Governor in a recent television program vowed never to compensate any of the victims because Kaduna State Government is not responsible for the attack, so all hands are on deck to see how the Governor will handle the issue of the victims.
