Ramadan: Yobe police assure of adequate security

Story from Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu

The Yobe State Police Command has assured the general public that adequate security arrangement has been put in place to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free fasting period.

The Police Command in a statement enjoins the citizens to be vigilant and support the efforts of the Police and other security agencies in achieving a successful fasting period.

The statement urges all Muslim Ummah, Imams and other relevant stakeholders to compliment the effort of the Police by providing useful information and report all suspicious movement(s), object(s), person(s) or vehicles(s) before, during and after Tafsir and Tahajjud throughout the fasting period.

“However, worshipers are advised to be security conscious by locking up their homes and premises while going to the worship centre (mosque) as hoodlums always take advantage of their absence to perpetrate their criminal acts.

“It is observed that over speeding, reckless and dangerous driving on the part of motorist has led to loss of human lives and injuries on our roads. It is therefore required that the religious leaders should talk to their audience to desist from this act as security operatives will deal decisively with any offending drivers who breach traffic regulations.

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, calls on all and sundry to be law abiding and further reiterate the commitment of the Command in ensuring security and public safety in the state.

“The Command wishes all the Muslim Ummah Ramadan Mubarak,” the statement read in part.
