Chelsea’s show of grit in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final was not enough to take them to the next round as they were eliminated by Real Madrid in an epic 2-3 (5-4) in aggregate match at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Tuesday night.

Chelsea were first to open the scoreline in the 15th minute from Mason Mount thereby adding two more goals in the 51st and 75th respectively.
The heat was turned on when Madrid’s substitute Rodrygo scored leveling the tally and taking the game into extra time.
It was time to separate the boys from the men when Karim Benzema ended Chelsea’s dream of defending the trophy in the 96th minute sending his team to semi final.
Elsewhere, Samuel Chukwueze scored a late winner in the tie as Villarreal stunned Bayern Munich1-1 (1-2) in aggregate to reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in 16 years.
