Taraba CAN chairman calls for unity among believers
Story from Ahmed USMAN, Jalingo
Former president of Christian Reformed Church Nigeria (CRC-N LCC) and chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Taraba State chapter, Reverend Isaiah Magaji Jirapye, has called for strong unity of believers to ensure the reign of peace in the country.
Reverend Jirapye made the call during a sendforth service organised in his favour by the CRC-N LCC after serving the church for six years as pastor-in-charge.
The sendforth service drew together several dignitaries from far and near including the Executive Governor of Taraba State Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku.
Speaking at the service, president of CRC-N Reverend Jirapye, expressed appreciation to the Governor and those who made it to the Programme.
He said he served the church successfully for the period of six years and enjoined the support and cooperation of the people.
The clergyman said the church will continue to pray for the government, and the state and call for strong unity of believers in times like these.
He also solicited for the prayers of the church to succeed in the tasks ahead.
In his sermon on the topic “The blessings that is accredited to your account”, the guest preacher, Reverend Gabriel Zeba Gamsari, the CRC-N RCC Tella chairman who read from Phillipians chapter four verses 15 to 20, said life and salvation were given free by God, hence the need for children of God to learn to honour their priest with gifts.
He explained that any gifts believers gave to men of God is a gift being accredited to the givers account eternally.
He told them that if they bless men of God with gifts, God will replenish them bountifully.
Speaking at the service, Taraba State Governor, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku, urged believers to pray fervently so as for God to grant the state a leader that will be suitable.
According to the governor, his tenure will elapse in a year and few months time, hence the need for the leadership of the state to be handed down to a worthy steward.
The Governor noted that God is the giver of leadership and that with the prayers of the faithful the state will have an excellent leader.
He said his administration has done its best for the people of the state and that it will continue to do more till his tenure ends.
Songs ministrations from the subgroups of the church added color to the service, as well as goodwill messages from guest and well wishers.
