Bandits release abducted Kadpoly lecturer

A humanitarian worker and a lecturer with the Kaduna State polytechnic, Ramatu Abarshi, kidnapped by terrorists in Kaduna State has regained freedom from captivity.
Mrs Abarshi, is the widow of late Air Commodore A. Abarshi and now the chairperson of Barkindo Rahama Initiative (BRAIN), an NGO helping women, youth and the less privileged, she was kidnapped alongside her daughter, Amira Aliyu Abarshi, and her secretary, Engineer Ibrahim Suleiman.

According to a press statement signed by Sadika Abarshi, on behalf of the Abarshi family, N35 million, 5 motorcycles was given to the terrorists to secure her release.
The statement said, “The Family of Late Air Commandore Ali Abarshi wish to tender their sincere appreciation to all those that assisted in prayers or money for the release of Engineer Ramatu Abarshi.
“The lecturer was released by bandits late Tuesday 17th of this month and arrived home on the 18th of May, 2022.
“Before her release, the sum of N35 million naira was paid to the kidnappers, initially they demanded for N200 million naira, the money was for the release of Dr. Ramatu, her daughter Ameerah and their driver.
“Generous donations were received from APWEN, NSE Kaduna branch and electrical and electronic department, old students of Jomo Kenyata University of Nigeria, association of retired airforce and some individuals, making the ransom to be N42 million.
However, the statement said the kidnappers are now making new demands, before they release Ameerah and their driver, Dr. Ramatu is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
