Adamawa CP condemns military, police clash, orders arrest of culprits

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in Adamawa State, Sikiru Akande, has condemned the recent conflict between Police officers and military personnel along Numan road, Jimeta Yola, which resulted in gun duel and murder of a military officer, noting that it is unacceptable for them to engage in such a belittling show of shame after swearing to protect lives and property.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, said, “the CP has ordered the immediate arrest of culprits and comprehensive investigation into the matter with a view to ensuring peace and justice”.

The CP warned that attacks on security officers in the line of duty would not be tolerated under whatever guise, as the command holds the lives of all security personnel sacrosanct, and such unwarranted conflict would be strictly treated in accordance with extant laws.

He equally reiterated the commitment of the command to the protection of lives and property while stressing that it is vital to work with other sister security agents in protecting the fundamental rights of security operatives, in order to enable them advance their sacred mandate of serving and protecting the citizens better.
