USAID trains 40 Adamawa gov’t officials on fiscal responsibility
The United State Agency for International Development (USAID) has trained 40 government officials on the implementation of fiscal responsibility law in Adamawa State.
Suzanne Myada, Public Financial Management Specialist, USAID, stated this at the end of a three-day training exercise, on Wednesday in Yola, the state capital.

She said the training was conducted under the USAID supported “State2State project,” and tasked the participants to understand the objectives of the exercise and put the knowledge gotten into practice.
This, she said, would promote accountability, transparency and effectiveness in governance in the state.
Myada said the training involved designing guidelines for the adoption and implementation of Fiscal Responsibility Law in line with the National Fiscal Responsibility Act.
“It is also to orientate the staff to monitor, enforce, evaluate and report on the provisions of the law with respect to the medium-term expenditure framework and budgeting process,” she said.
According to her, the training will equally help to improve the internal revenue generation of the state.
Mr Eze Onyekpere, a resource person, charged the participants to make a difference in the discharge of their responsibility towards ensuring accountability and transparency.
One of the participants, Mr Clarkson Gajere, described the training as timely and appreciated USAID for the gesture.
He said that the training had exposed them to the guidelines to fast track the successful implementation of fiscal responsibility law in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the participants were drawn from the Adamawa Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Office of the Auditor-General, Ministries of Finance and Budget, Health, Environment and Water Resources as well as Planning Commission and Board of Internal Revenue.
The highlight of the training included a paper presentation on various topics: The Medium Term Expenditure Framework, Medium Term Sector Strategies, Annual Budget, Budgetary Execution and Achievement of Targets and Public Revenues and Expenditure.
