Kidnapping: Police apprehend 3 hunters in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command through intelligence gathering has arrested three suspected kidnappers who among others have been terrorising Girei, Daware, Pariya villages in Girei and Fufore local government areas of the state.

A statement issued by the PPRO of the state, SP Sulaiman Yahya Nguroje, revealed that Auwal Mohammed, 28, Isah Umaru, 40, and Rabiu Mohammed, 19, all members of hunters association, attached to Tambajam and Tsigire villages of Fufore and Song local government areas were arrested on 9th June, 2022.

The statement added that the arrest is sequal to the Command’s reinvigorated special action plan on the ongoing fight against kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes across the state, revealing that the apprehended criminals are collaborators of the nefarious kidnapping activities going on in the axis.

“Investigation so far reveals that the above suspects betrayed the trust repost in them by the community members of protecting lives and properties, went ahead supplying food items and other basics needs to their fellow kidnappers around that area.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande while commending the gallantry performance of the DPO of Girei and his men for making it difficult for such criminals to escape arrest, equally directed other divisional police officers, operational commanders and their supervisory area commanders to do the same and dominate the public space by denying the criminals an opportunity to regroup anywhere within the state.

“The police Boss assured the government and the good people of Adamawa state of the command’s unrelenting efforts in combating crime in the state.
