Barristers Kigbu, Gayam, others elected NBA exco members in Nasarawa

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lafia branch has elected new executives to man its affairs.

The Lafia branch consists of Nasarawa South and Nasarawa North Senatorial districts, while Keffi is an independent branch.

The newly elected Secretary, Barrister Abdullahi Gayam, who spoke on behalf of the executives said: “The election was conducted on Thursday, the 23rd day of June 2022 at the Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice, Lafia and the result of the election is as follows:

“For the position of Chairman, Joseph A. Kigbu got 133 votes, he defeated Joseph E. Agbo who polled 55 votes.

“For the position of Secretary, Abdullahi S. Gayam scored 125 votes and defeated Ashokp Iliya Auna who got 63 votes.”

“For the post of Treasurer, Abigail Musa got 120 votes while Chima C. Agu polled 68 votes respectively,” he said.

“These following posts were contested and elected unopposed are: Yahaya M. Maigata as Vice Chairman; Matthew Aku Peter as Assistant Secretary; Denis Ogaza as Financial Secretary; Fatima Ahmed Abubakar as Welfare Secretary.

“The other elected officials are: Isa Muhammad Danliti as Social Secretary; Adda Tanko Abimiku as Publicity Secretary, Godwin Benjamin Ta’runi as Provost and Ovye Yakubu as Legal Adviser respectively”, he added.
