7 nabbed for murder of 74-year-old man in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested seven (7) suspects over the brutal murder and burning of one Zira Gree, 74, a resident of Gelegu village in Michika local government area of Adamawa.
The suspects are Tumba Dalle, 68 years, Mary Kwoji, 45 years, Deliver Tumba, 28 years, Okoko Sini, 28 years, Esther Kwatri, 34 years, Usa Okoko, 20 years, Husseini Kwoji, 22 years, all of Kopale village in Michika local government area.

A statement from state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on 3 June, explained that “the suspects on the 29/4/2022 conspired, waylaid and mangled to death the victim, thereafter, burnt his corpse beyond recognition.
“Investigations so far reveal that the suspects had earlier alleged that the victim was responsible for the death of their aged father, one Kwoji Sini who died on the 17/4/2022 at General hospital Michika after a protracted illness”.
According to SP Suleiman, the suspects claimed to be angered by the incident of their father’s death, suspected to have been caused by the victim through fetish means and decided to take laws into their hands by killing and burning the 74-year-old man.
The suspects were apprehended by the Police operatives attached to Michika divisional police headquarters following a report received from the family members of the deceased.
SP added that the Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, having directed for discreet investigation into the matter, equally warned members of the public to desist forthwith from any act capable of causing a breakdown of law and order, as the Police will not fold it’s arms and allow people take laws into their hands.
The police Boss assured members of the public of sustained efforts to protecting the lives and properties of the citizens.
