ABU don gives nursery-to-secondary school scholarships to 6 orphans

A senior lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Dr Abubakar Sani Abdullahi, has announced his sponsorship of three children who are orphans from Madaki quarters in Gombe State to study from nursery to secondary level at Nana Maimunat Memorial Academy located in the area.
He announced the scholarship during a speech and prize giving day and commemoration of the 10th years anniversary of the school.
The lecturer who tasked the community members to identify three orphans for enrollment in the school free of charge said as a lecturer and citizen of the state, he felt duty bound to give back to the society by sponsoring the education of less privileged members of the society.

The university don also paid a one-year scholarship to another three children in the area for Qur’anic studies in the school for a period of one year.
Earlier, the director of the school Abubakar Umar explained that since the establishment of Nana Maimunat Memorial Academy in the year 2013, it has successfully graduated over 300 pupils adding that it now has junior and senior secondary students who are expected to graduate next year.
“To my respectable and amiable parents, I urge you to invest vehemently in your children’s education and pay much attention to their moral upbringing as nowadays, moral training has become very expensive and complex”, he said.
The director appealed to parents and guardians to be prompt in the payment of their children’s school fees and other related fees for the progress and sustenance of the school.
