Story from Abah ADAH, Abuja
The representative of the US-African Trade Council (USAfriTC) to the “The First Nigeria-African Natural Resource and Energy Investment Summit” which kicks-off after being declared open by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja, Princess Olayemi Joledo, has expressed the belief that as soon as Nigeria is able to get the energy aspect of the economy right, over 60 percent (%) of everything around her is right.
Princess Joledo, who is director, Agribusiness at USAfriTC, made the assertion while speaking to newsmen about the uniqueness and importance of the energy investment summit at a reception organised for the participants that arrived from within and outside the country by the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development (MMSD), the chief host, on Tuesday evening in Abuja.

She said, “A couple of the main objectives of this event is that, first of all, it will attract the investments we need and it will increase our GDP if done properly. And most especially, it will reflect on the average Nigerians because as soon as we are able to get the energy aspect of our country right we get over 60% of everything around us right.”
According to her, the event provides Nigeria with ample opportunity to showcase her enormous potential in her abundant natural resources which can be harnessed towards energy sufficiency and increased GDP among others.
“With so much potential, Nigeria has so much to offer the world. We hope that this event, this summit, brings out what we have to offer the world. And when you talk of energy, it’s abundant in Nigeria, it’s everywhere. And so we want to be able to see how we can partner with Nigeria and Africa. Nigeria and other African countries should bring out their best for Africa,” the renowned politician and entrepreneur said.
On the uniqueness of the summit in her capacity as a farmer and business expert, Princess Joledo said, “This is different because it’s about natural resources and energy investments, meaning, we are going to be using our natural resources, that’s, those things that we possess naturally.
“We’re not trying to invent anything; it is what we already have in abundance – the natural resources around the country, So this is different, definitely different because we’re using our natural resources to get the kind of investment we need for our country.
The maiden edition of the energy submit which is to last three days, from Wednesday, 1st June to Friday, 3rd June 2022, is expected to witness high-level presentations from experts within their respective sectors.
ASFriTC, a not-for-profit business organisation that promotes trade, tourism, and investment opportunities between the United States and Africa, is a strategic partner in the event.
