Gunmen set ablaze police command in Kogi, kill officer on duty

Gunmen in the early hours of Friday attacked the Okehi Police Area Command of Kogi State killing an inspector on duty.
It was gathered that the heavily armed gunmen attacked the police command at about 12:30 am on Friday and burnt down some parts of the area office with dynamites.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Edward Egbuka, said the command has ordered the deployment of additional operational assets consisting of Operatives of the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Quick Response Unit, and State Intelligence Bureau in synergy with other security agencies to restore normalcy in the area.
A statement by the PPRO, William Aya, explained that during the visit, the CP assured that the Command was committed to working in synergy with other security agencies as well as patriotic stakeholders to make the state a safe and secure place for all and sundry.
He tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the state Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to commence investigations into the unfortunate incident so as to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the attack with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.
