I love naija, by Pokyes Kavwam
The political intrigues in the next two days will not dim the emerging ray of national hope without our collective permission. The path that leads to that place of pride will come at a price: the price is self-sacrifice.
I believe that you and I must sacrifice our bigoted sentiments for the good of all. I believe that competence and fairness must rise to become the canopy under which our national architectural design is drawn.

I believe that my enemies are not the people who do not believe in my candidate or my faith. I believe that my enemies are nepotism, tribal chauvinism, greed, destructive criticism, avarice, selfishness, an uncanny lust for power and massive control, inordinate ambition, pride and political myopia. These enemies know no tribe, political party, or religion.
We must believe in what makes us Nigerians. I am proud of our cultures and traditions. I believe in our capacity and competence. I believe that we are sensible people. I believe that our intelligence can give us a global competitive edge. I believe that we have what it takes to erode evil. I believe that nobody is better equipped to deliver Nigeria than a Nigerian. This is the nation that God has given me, and I am immensely thankful for it. I don’t wish I were somewhere else, since the good I see in another man’s land, is the reward of the hard labour of his forebears. Nigeria will work.
I believe in the staggering capacity and competence of my generation. I will keep working, not so much for a better Nigeria than I would that I become a better Nigerian. I believe I can be that Nigerian who will not first judge my brother by the region he comes from, and decide his capacity based on that mindset. I believe I can love my brother as I love myself. I believe I can do unto others, irrespective of what they believe, as I would want them to do unto me.
I believe in Naija. I love Naija. Naija has no problem. I am the problem of Naija. If I refuse to sell my conscience for immediate gains. If I refuse to betray my constituency for thirty pieces of silver. If I refuse to side with a world acclaimed rogue, even if he were ready to give me the world. If I refuse to call white black for the profit I could have had. If I curb as much as I can, greed and selfishness, of all the evils known to man, then the glory in this nation will rise.
In this country, honest men and self-less men abound, just as much as the merchants of greed abound. Can we see beyond the blindfolds of self, me, and I?
If Naija spoils, it affects all of us, whatever your gains are. If it works, a new song rises from the breath of our people, to kiss the lips of paradise, with the beauty of human compassion.
