Shehu of Dikwa condemns gruesome murder of 20 scavengers in Borno

The Shehu of Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar El Kanemi, has expressed sadness over the gruesome murder of over 20 scavengers along the Boboshe Village of Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

Alhaji Umar condemned the evil act while condoling with the families of the victims in Dikwa town on Wednesday.

He described the incident as worrisome but urged the parents and loved ones of the affected persons to consider it as ordained by Almighty Allah and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

About 30 persons from Dikwa Local Government on Monday 6th June, 2022 went out to scavenge for steel and scrap metals popularly known as Ajaokuta but were ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists which resulted in the death of 20 persons, leaving two injured, and seven missing.

The Shehu of Dikwa presented a token amount to the families of the injured ones and appealed to the entire Dikwa Community to be security-conscious and report any suspicious persons to the security agents.

Meanwhile, a security meeting was convened in Dikwa consisting of traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders as well as security agents and people were advised not to go out of the town for any business or venture without the permission of the security personnel.
