Yobe receives 360 metric tones of food items from FGN

The Yobe State government on Friday received 360 metric tonnes of garri and grains from the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN).

The assorted food commodities was handed over to the state government by the Minister of Power Engr Abubakar D Aliyu who represented President Muhammad Buhari at the ceremony.

Receiving the Items, His Excellency Honourable Mai Mala Buni (Chiroman Gujba), represented by his Deputy, Honourable Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), expressed profound appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the government and people of Yobe state to the federal government for this and other assistance it has been rendering to the victims of all types of conflict and natural disasters.

Governor Buni, assured the federal government that the commodities received will reach the targeted members and other vulnerable households.

In his speech before handing over the essential commodities, the Minister of Power Engr Abubakar Aliyu informed the gathering that he was directed by the president Mohammad Buhari to visit Yobe and hand over the commodities to the authority for onward distribution to the vulnerable.

The Minister noted that president Buhari had approved the emergency release of assorted food commodities from the National strategic Reserve stock for onward distribution to the displaced and vulnerable to cushion the effects of rising prices of food items.

Engr Aliyu expressed the hope that the items would get to the targeted people successfully.

The Minister used the opportunity to thank the state government and Yobeans for their continues support, prayers and understanding since his assumption of office as Minister.
