Eid-el-Adha: Police, FRSC, NSCDC deploy personnel to states

Ahead of this year’s Eid-el-Adha celebration, different security agencies, as usual, have started deploying their personnel to various states to make sure there is the maintenance of law and order during the period.

In that vein, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Kayode Akande, has assured the people of Adamawa State of adequate security during the Sallah celebration.

In a statement signed by SP Sulaiman Nguroje, the spokesman of the command, the CP said he has placed adequate security measures to protect the citizens, and ensure the success of all the activities lined up for the Sallah celebration.

The CP directed the deputy commissioner of police, and department of operation to coordinate and ensure that all the area commanders, divisional police officers, and operational commanders lead the Sallah celebration themselves.

According to the statement, they are to also ensure high visibility policing, stop and search operations and confidence-building patrols around the Eid grounds, venues of the celebrations, residential areas and other places of public resort to prevent any infiltration by hostile elements.

The CP called on citizens to go about the celebrations in the most peaceful and law-abiding manner and report any suspicious person(s) around their neighbourhoods to the nearest police on these emergency numbers; 08089671313, 08036617428.

Also in Kano State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Command deployed 1,634 personnel for the special operation in the state.

Mr Zubairu Mato, the State FRSC Sector Commander, said this in a statement in Kano.

According to the statement, five ambulances, 24 patrol vehicles, one heavy-duty tow truck, one light tow truck and other operational equipment have been deployed on major routes and highways to facilitate effective smooth operations. This is to ensure the free flow of traffic on critical road junctions and the safety of lives and properties on the highways.

Mato further explained that the 1634 personnel comprise 1098 regular marshals and 536 special marshals for daily traffic control at strategic places and on major routes to ensure safety and smooth vehicular movement as well as to give prompt attention to victims of road traffic crashes within the period.

He assured motorist that personnel from sector command, eight Unit command, outpost, zebra and roadside clinic located along Kano-Zaria road will work round the clock to ensure FRSC visibility and the safety of lives and properties in the state.

Mato warned motorists to desist from committing traffic offences such as underage driving, dangerous driving, use of phones while driving, driving under influence of alcohol/drugs, excessive speeding, dangerous driving, overtaking, and wrong parking.

He also cautioned drivers on road conditions and other environmental elements that could cause auto-crash most especially during the rainy season and advised them to obey all traffic rules and regulations and ensure vehicle tyres, wipers, and lighting systems are in good condition.

Meanwhile, in the Kogi State axis, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says adequate deployment of men and officers of the command has been put in place for a hitch Fred celebration.

The State Commandant of the Corps, John Kayode Oyinloye, stated this in a statement signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, CSC Agiri Alex in Lokoja, the state capital.

Commandant Oyinloye said all-flash points have been identified and necessary arrangements have been made to secure travellers within and outside the state in conjunction with sister security agencies.

He warned criminally minded people to desist and stay away from the state as his men are combat-ready to check their activities.

The State Commandant assured all Muslim faithful of adequate protection of all prayer grounds as well as national assets for a peaceful celebration.

He congratulated all Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
