Police arrest drug baron in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command says its operatives have successfully arrested a suspected drug dealer, Mahdi Salisu, 33, of Taura town and other nine suspected criminals following a raid on criminal hideouts and black spots at Unguwar Gabas in the Taura local government area of the state.
This was disclosed by DSP Shiisu Adam, the Command’s spokesperson while briefing the press on behalf of the Commissioner of Police at the command’s headquarters in Dutse, the state capital.

“As part of the deliberate effort of the Command to get the state rid of crimes and criminalities, on 11th July 2022 at about 2300hrs, a team of policemen attached to Taura Divisional Police Headquarters led by SP Yohana Babale raided criminal hideouts and black spots at Unguwar Gabas in Taura LGA.”
DSP Adam, however, said nine suspects arrested during the raid include; Isah Saleh, age, 22 years, Usman Hassan, age, 25 years, and Dahiru Sama’ila, age, 20 years, all of Manlafiya in Kaugama LGA.
Others are Usman Nasiru, age, 20 years of Rigar Garin Baushe Gagarawa Division, Yusufa Usman, age, 18 years of Dugunu Gujungu Taura LGA, Ali Ado, age 30 years, and Garba Wada, age, 20 years, all of Gambayi Nomi Village, Hassan Muhammad, age, 20 years of Bela Gagarawa LGA and Nura Haruna, age, 20 years of Jimfi Kaugama LGA.
He added that “Intelligence gathering led to the arrest of a drug dealer at Bakin Kasuwa (area) black spot in Taura town, named Mahdi Salisu, age, 33 years of Taura town, in Taura LGA”.
Similarly, he noted that the operatives found one hundred and two (102) wraps and some quantity of dry leaves (in black nylon), suspected to be Indian hemp as exhibits in his possession.
He further stated that after a thorough and discreet investigation, all the suspects will be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law.
The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Aliyu Sale Tafida said that raids on criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the state twice a week after intelligence gathering.
He also appreciated the effort of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his team, calling on him and other officers in the command to be committed and more resilient until all crimes and criminality reduce to the barest minimum in the state.
