Nigeria’s female senior national team, Super Falcons, have qualified for the semi-final after beating the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 1-0 in Thursday’s first quarter-final match in the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2022 in Morocco.

Both teams played goalless draw in the first 45 minutes but the deadlock was broken in the 56th after Rasheedat Ajibade (15) who received a cross from Ifeoma Chukwufumnay Onumonu headed the ball into the back of the net giving the Falcons the lead.

The 11th time Africa’s champions maintained the consistent pressures from the Indomitable Lionesses who had a couple of chances but failed to convert any of those to a goal.

The Falcons’ victory has not only earned them a spot in the semis they’ve also automatically qualified for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The Falcons will face hosts, Morocco next week.
