Armed men invade Nigerian university, abduct student

Arthur Jarvis University in Cross River State on Tuesday was invaded by armed men abducting a final year student.

According to reports, the incident occurred at the time students were returning from classes within the premises.

The university is situated in Akpabuyo Local Government Area (LGA), about 15 kilometres from Calabar, the state capital. Students who managed to scamper to safety had multiple injuries.

“The gunmen succeeded in abducting one of them and left another with severe machete cuts. We understand that the kidnapped student was taken into the nearby forest”, a source told Daily Post.

Another source reports that the kidnapped student has been identified as Josephine Etim Edet, adding that the victim had just written her last paper for the semester before the incident occurred.
