Group advocates creation of corpers maternal care CDS in Bauchi (Photos)

A state-led accountability mechanism with the name Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism (BASAM) for Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) was in the Bauchi State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp on Tuesday to advocate for corp members posted to the state to form an MNCH Community Development Service (CDS) group as part of measures to mitigate the alarming rate of maternal mortality in the country, especially in the North East zone.

 Co-chair of the coalition, Mr Abu John, who led members of the team pleaded with the newly posted corp members to use the strategic position they occupy in various communities to complement the government’s effort in healthcare service delivery, thereby contributing to achieving universal health coverage.

Abu, who said BASAM will continue to provide support to the CDS group when formed in various locations, added that they can be ambassadors in their various communities while BASAM will continue to use evidence to advocate policy makers on human resources for health, availability of life-Saving drugs in all health facilities and functional blood banks among others.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Tuesday, sworn in Batch B stream II corps members posted to the state for the mandatory one-year service at the state orientation camp in Ganjuwa local government area of the state.
