Story from Ahmad SAKA, Bauchi

Relatives of the former Bauchi State Governor, Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, in Boto village of Tafawa Balewa local government area of the state, have revealed that the captors of their three family members are demanding the sum of N600 million as ransom before they will be freed.

They revealed this when the state Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, accompanied by top security chiefs, went to commiserate with the families of ex-governor Mu’azu and the people of the LGA over the incident.

The family said that they had been talking with their relatives on phone and alleged that they were sick and in need of medical attention.

“They (victims) have asked us to do all we can to secure their release,” the family said.

It can be recalled that last week bandits stormed the residence of the former governor of the state and killed his nephew, Mua’zu Danladi, a 25-year-old, and kidnapped three of his relatives, Hajiya Asma’u Alhaji Adamu, the younger sister to the former governor, Malama Halima Abdullahi, and one Nura.

Governor Mohammed on his part said the bandits have touched the government by touching the families of one of the number one citizens of the state, a former Governor of the state.

“We will not leave any stone unturned, these hoodlums have insulted us, and we will take it as such, we will not sleep until we get them, we will not sleep until we protect our leaders, we will not sleep until we protect our people.

“We know their roots, the bandits are coming from Plateau through Kurgwi, Lere and Kardam and since we know their roots we will definitely get them.”
