Imo Zoological Garden GM’s wife kidnapped, suspect arrested
The wife of Francis Abioye, the General Manager of the Imo State Zoological Garden and Wild Life Park in Nekede, Owerri West local government area, Mrs Elizabeth Abioye, was kidnapped on Sunday.
Mrs Abioye was kidnapped at about 2 pm at the First Baptist Church on Wetheral Road in Owerri, where she had gone for service.
According to sources who spoke to journalists, the abductors stormed the church in tinted glass, ash-coloured Sienna vehicle and whisked her away at gunpoint.
The situation created pandemonium in the church, as worshippers ran helter-skelter, the source said.
The church is a few meters from the Owerri Police Area Command.
Meanwhile, the Imo Police Spokesman, CSP Michael Abattam, said one of the suspects has been arrested.
“We have arrested one of the suspects and still trailing the others,” he said.
