Teenager in police net for stealing 16 TV sets worth N1.2 million

The Kano State Police Command have arrested an 18-year-old teenager, Sadiq Isma’il, for stealing 16 Plasma television sets worth N1.2 million.

A statement issued on Friday by the police command spokesperson, Superintendent (SP) Abdullahi Kiyawa Haruna, claimed that a covert investigation which began on Wednesday, June 22 resulted in the capture of one Abdullahi Muktar, the individual who bought the stolen goods.

According to SP Haruna, the 16 stolen television sets which was valued at N1.2 million were sold for N350,000.00 and some of the proceeds the suspect used it to book a hotel room for himself and his girlfriend.

“On 22/06/2022 at about 0800hrs, a report was received from a resident of Sharada Quarters Kano that, on the same date, he went to his shop and discovered that unknown hoodlums broke the window of his shop and stole sixteen (16) Plasma TV (32 inches each) valued One Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N1,200,000:00), at Seventy Five Thousand Naira (N75,000:00) each.

“Sustained intelligence-led follow-up resulted in the arrest of the principal suspect, Sadiq lsma’il,18, at a Hotel in Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, where he lodged. On preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed that he singlehandedly went to the shop around 2300hrs of 21/06/2022, broke the window and made away with the sixteen (16) Plasma TVs.

“He further confessed that he sold all the sixteen (16) Plasma TVs at N350,000 and at N21,875:00 each, where he used part of the money to lodge in a hotel with his girlfriend.”
