WAFCON 2022: South Africa beat star-studded Super Falcons 2-1

South Africa’s female senior national team, Bayana Bayana, Monday evening defeated current champions, the Super Falcons of Nigeria 2-1 in the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2022 in Morocco.

The Super Falcons who are favourites bowed to pressure in the opening Group B encounter after playing a barren draw in the first 45 minutes.

The South Africans knowing the team they were up against continued with the pressure which paid off in the 60th minute courtesy Jermaine Seoposenwe.

The vibrant South African team having gained mastery capitalised on the demoralised Super Falcons and found the back of the net for the second time two minutes later from Hildah Magaia.

The goal tally was reduced after Atletico Madrid star, Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade pulled one in the 92nd minute making it 2-1.

The Falcon hopes to regain confidence as they face Botswana on Thursday, July 7, 2022.
