Africa’s women football power house, the Super Falcons of Nigeria Thursday night redeemed their image beating The Mares of Botswana 2-0 in the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The Falcons who lost their first game against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa on Tuesday live up to expectations by opening the score line in the 21st minute courtesy Ifeoma Chukwufumnay Onumonu making it 1-0.

The 12th time African champions exerted more pressures into the half of the Botswanas but were unable to increase the tally before the break.

The second half of the game started off on a bright note with the Falcons finding the back of the net just three minutes after the break courtesy Christy Onyenaturuchi Ucheibe who plays her professional football for Portuguese club Benfica made 2-0 for the Falcons.

The 12-year-old’s goal sealed the victory for Nigeria. South Africa earlier on defeated the Burundi 3-1 earning the top spot in Group C on six points.

The Falcons who are on the same points (three) with Botswana will be hoping for a victory on Sunday as they face Burundi to book a ticket for the next round.
