Let’s diversify to achieve a united, prosperous nation – Gov. Buni urges Nigerians
Yobe State Governor, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, has urged Nigerians to use diversity as a source of strength in achieving a united and prosperous nation, adding that no election or interest of any single individual is worth sending Nigeria to war.
Buni who was the Chairman and Guest of Honour at the Blueprint Newspaper annual public lecture and impact services award, said the 2023 election should be competence-driven for a united and prosperous Nigeria.
In a statement signed by the DG, Press and Media Affairs to Yobe Governor, Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni who was also Blueprint Newspaper award recipient, urged the 2021 awardees to consider their recognition as a springboard for more hardwork.
He said “Our diversity should serve as our source of strength for a united and prosperous Nigeria.
“Therefore, for us to succeed, we must as a deliberate policy, avoid politics of hate, and promotion of religious and ethnic sentiments that are gradually eating deep into the fabric of our nationhood.
“The government with the collaboration of stakeholders should create the required awareness among our supporters and the people of Nigeria generally, to condemn and discourage inciting propaganda, for a peaceful and successful election in 2023” Buni said.
The guest speaker at the occassion, Lt. Gen. AbdulRahman Dambazau, said there must be a holistic approach to the problems confronting the country.
He also charged government to tackle problems confronting the youths in the country.
According to the retired General, the youth constitute 70 per cent of the nation’s population and must be addressed for national security.
Blueprint Newspaper presented awards to Kogi state Governor Yahaya Bello, Minister of Power Abubakar D. Aliyu, Governor of Adamawa, Ahmadu Fintiri, among others.
