Electricity consumers in Lagos State under the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) have been told that there would be disruptions in power should electricity workers decide to go ahead with its planned nationwide strike scheduled for Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
The electricity distribution company made this disclosure in a tweet on its official Twitter account.

According to company, the planned strike will affect workers of power stations controlled by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), from which DisCos buys power to distribute to electricity consumers.
“This is to inform our esteemed customers of the planned industrial action by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) at the power stations controlled by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
“We anticipate that the industrial action which is set to take place from Wednesday, the 17th of August 2022, if goes as planned may lead to disruption of power supply to electricity consumers across the nation,” the statement by EKO DisCo partly read.
The warning consumers is coming less than 24 hours following the union’s agreement to carry out the planned strike on Wednesday if the Federal Government of Nigeria does not meet their demands.
Recall that the TCN had appealed to the electricity workers to suspend their proposed strike billed to begin on August 17, 2022
The Managing Director, TCN, Dr Sule Abdulaziz, made the appeal in a letter to the workers on Tuesday following the threat by the workers to embark on strike to drive home their demands.
However, the union insisted that it will go ahead with its planned action except efforts are made by the government to meet its demands.
