Troops bust bandits’ hideouts, rescue 6 hostages in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Government says troops of the Nigerian Army have dislodged bandits’ camp and rescued six hostages in Kuriga and Manini communities in Chikun Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Disclosing this in a statement issued on Tuesday by Mr. Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said troops of operation sanity carried out a raid and rescue operation which resulted to the dislodgement of the bandits in their hideouts.

“Following the weekend breakthrough, security forces have continued with clearance operations in identified bandit and terrorist enclaves around the state.

“From a recent operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government, troops of Operation Forest Sanity in the early hours of Tuesday carried out a raid, and rescue operations, in Kuriga and Manini communities of Chikun local government area,” he said.

According to the commissioner, the troops made contact and engaged the bandits at the suspected enclaves rescuing six kidnapped victims who were held at the location.

The rescued victims are: Sahura Hamisu; Ramlatu Umar; Saudatu Ibrahim; Maryam Shittu; Fatima Shuaibu; Khadijah Mohammed, along with her child.

The victims have been safely reunited with their families.

The state government commended the bravery of the troops, police officers, the intelligence operatives and the vigilante members as well as the leadership of the Nigeria military.

Mr. Aruwan said that the Kaduna State Government has noted the report, and especially the rescue of six kidnapped citizens, with gratitude. The Government warmly commended the troops, police personnel, intelligence operatives, vigilante members and other security forces, for another successful round of operations.

The Commissioner said the Kaduna State Government conveys its deep appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army, and the Director General, Department of State Services, for the ongoing wave of onslaughts against criminal enclaves.

He said that the security forces will continue operations in the general area and other locations of interest across the state. Further updates will be reported accordingly.
