Gombe varsity schedules partial resumption on Monday as ASUU strike continues
The management of Gombe State University has directed that 100-level students resume next Monday to complete their registration processes, matriculate and complete the first semester, 2021/2022 academic session.
Recall that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday, 14th February 2022 declared industrial action due to the failure of the federal government to meet up their demands.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Registrar of the institution Musa Sarki, the 100-level students would resume on August 22, 2022.
The statement partly read, “Consequent upon consultations held among the various stakeholders in the university, it was resolved to allow 100 level students to report back on Monday, August 22, 2022, to complete their registration processes, matriculate and complete the first semester, 2021/2022 academic session.
“Accordingly, all 100 level students are to report to their respective departments on Monday.
Reacting to the decision of the school authorities to reconvene 100-level students, the GSU ASUU chairman, Dr Suleiman Jauro, said the association would only decide on its next line of action after a meeting with its members.
