NDLEA operatives arrest pastor with imported drums of illicit drug, mkpurummiri

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a trans-border drug dealer, Pastor Anietie Okon Effiong, for importing three drums of crystal methamphetamine, locally called Mkpuru Mmiri, believed to have been imported from India.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday the consignment which weighed about 90 kilograms was loaded into a commercial bus with registration number RSH 691XC at Ojuelegba area in Lagos.

The consignment was intercepted during a stop and search operation along Umuahia – Ikot Ekpene highway on Saturday 6th August 2022.

The dangerous drug packed in 30kg in each drum was meant for Pastor Anietie Okon Effiong, who was arrested in a follow up operation at Oron beach in Oron.

The recovered meth drums according to the agency were meant for onward delivery to the Republic of Cameroon.

The latest seizure of the drug is coming barely a week after the operatives busted two laboratories in Lagos and Anambra States where meth is being produced.
