Story from Cara LUCKSON and Faruk TUMSAH, Abuja
The Emir of Fika and Chairman, Yobe State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness Dr Muhammad Ibn Abali Muhammad Idrissa, has commended Neptune Prime Newspaper for its fearless and non-partisan reportage towards the restoration of peace and unity in the North-East and the entire nation.
The royal father made the commendation when he paid a courtesy call on the Publisher of Neptune Prime Newspaper, Dr Hassan Gimba, at his office in Abuja.
He applauded the media organisation for its tireless efforts in promoting religious and peaceful co-existence in Nigeria.
The Yobe number one monarch who was in Abuja to participate in a consultative retreat on the operational guidelines and development of the Yobe State Education Trust Fund (YETFund), charged Nigerian journalists to shun partisan politics and work towards the success of the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
He said journalists are key players in building and sustaining democracy in Nigeria and expressed satisfaction with the quality of journalism practiced in Neptune Prime for reporting news that promotes religious and ethnic unity in the nation.

He specifically appreciated the contributions of the medium to the strategic development of the North-East, through its selection by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), in carrying out investigative reports that seek to elicit intervention by government and the private sector for the development of the region.
It would be recalled that Neptune Prime recently went into partnership with the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism, to help tell stories of victims of insurgency in the North-East in order to attract intervention from stakeholders. The project which is in collaboration with the MacArthur Foundation is expected to run for three years.
Responding, Dr Hassan Gimba, acknowledged the good efforts of the August Visitor, Yobe State Governor, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, and other stakeholders for their roles in the development and restoration of peace in Yobe State.
Dr Gimba assured that Neptune Prime Newspaper will not relent in working towards the unity of a peaceful, prosperous and greater Nigeria.
